An event dedicated to Energy Workers' Day took place at the Enguri HPP arch dam
An event dedicated to Energy Workers' Day took place at the Enguri HPP arch dam. In attendance were the country's Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, and the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, as well as representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, local self-government, and state and private energy companies.
In her speech, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development emphasised the strategic, state, energy and economic importance of the Enguri HPP. 'The Enguri HPP, which holds monument status, is the most complex and significant technical structure ever constructed in Georgia. Energy is the driving force of Georgia’s economy, and the Enguri HPP lies at the heart of our energy system. Part of this lies in Abkhazia and has served as a bridge connecting our occupied lands for years. In the future, the Enguri HPP will also play a key role in replacing all the destroyed bridges,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili.
The Day of the Georgian Energy Worker event traditionally concludes with an awards ceremony honouring exceptional individuals in the energy sector. This year, certificates and symbolic gifts were presented to sixteen energy workers. Sergo Akubardia, Manager of Administrative and General Affairs of the Arch Dam Department at Enguri HPP LtD, was awarded the title of Honorary Energy Engineer on behalf of the company.
After the speeches had finished, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development thanked the representatives of the Georgian energy sector and honoured the energy engineers who had contributed to its development.
