A joint external meeting of the Committee on Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy of the Parliament of Georgia and the Committee on European Integration was held at the Enguri HPP dam. The meeting was attended by representatives of the legislative body, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze, representatives of energy companies, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Enguri HPP Levan Mebonia, Technical Director Gia Khubua, Financial Director Zviad Kilasonia and Commercial Director Irakli Shengelia.
Genadi Arveladze spoke about the results of the implementation of the Association Agreement's commitments in the energy sector for 2014-2024 and the plans for the implementation of the remaining commitments. The participants of the meeting also discussed the second reading of the draft law "On Amendments to the Code of Product Safety and Free Movement of Goods". As explained by Genadi Arveladze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the proposed amendments provide for the establishment of a National Standardisation Council, which is a necessary condition for full convergence with European systems in the field of standardisation. In addition, the amendments concern terminological consistency with international standards.
The members of the Committee supported the draft law under discussion.
