Delegates from Engurhesi visited the Kaprun Hydropower Plant (HPP) in Austria, following an invitation from the Austrian state-owned company, Verbund. The delegation was led by Irakli Shengelia, Commercial Director of Engurhesi.

During the visit, Austrian and Engurhesi experts held in-depth discussions on the critical role of hydropower in ensuring energy independence, security, and the reliable operation of national energy systems. Austrian specialists also shared best practices and insights into the efficient management of hydropower enterprises.

The delegation toured the Kaprun pumped storage power plant to better understand its operational specifics. They also visited the construction site of the new pumped storage facility, Limberg 3, where Verbund representatives outlined both the challenges and milestones in the development of such infrastructure.

The visit concluded with a final meeting at Verbund's offices. Engurhesi representatives posed a number of detailed questions, which were comprehensively addressed by Austrian experts. The meeting also touched on key aspects of potential future collaboration.

The Kaprun HPP complex consists of two operational plants—Limberg 1, which has been in service since its construction between 1950 and 1955, and Limberg 2, a more recent addition. A third plant, Limberg 3, is currently under construction. Located in the Kaprun region of Salzburg, these hydropower plants are operated by Verbund, Austria’s leading electricity provider, which is 51% owned by the Austrian government.
